Entertainment For Seniors
I have been in the entertainment business for over 40 years and have been performing in retirement homes and for senior’s day programs for the past 14 years.
I have a large and varied repertoire of music from the 1920’s right up to today. I entertain at many different kinds of celebrations and for any age group, for any occasion–holiday parties, birthdays, end of year get-togethers and more.
For retirement homes and senior day programs, I perform an hour show made up of familiar and loved songs, some sing-alongs, specialty numbers involving participants from the audience and parodies.
What my audiences really love is the jokes that I add to my shows.
My biggest thrill is when seniors approach me after a show and say,“You know, I felt down today, but after hearing all my favorite songs and having a good laugh, I feel so much better. I’m so glad I came tonight. Thank you.”
are usually lots of hugs that follow.
“I’m very grateful to be able to make all those lovely people happy. It is very gratifying.”
No matter what occasion, I would be happy to entertain at your party. I bring a repertoire of music tailored to your event, whether it is a birthday party for an 8-yr. old, or an 80-yr. old, a retirement party, a Christmas or Hanukkah party, Easter party, wedding, Bar Mitzvah, or just a summer backyard BBQ. Entertainment will enhance everyone’s experience at your party and make the event memorable. Time and duration of entertainment are flexible. My fee is calculated on the length of our performance, number of musicians and the distance.
I work as a single performer, but if you require a 2,3, or 4 piece band, I can provide that as well.
“What I love about private parties is making new friends with families and their friends. The party always feels more personal.”
Children’s Music Programs
My interactive music program is for children 3-10 yrs. old. I bring age-appropriate songs chosen for each class. The children are given props such as puppets and costumes to make each song memorable and fun. We will be using wood blocks and sticks to learn how to keep time to some of their favorite songs. Students participate in every song and will enjoy singing and dancing to songs from different countries.
Occasionally I will write a parody to some familiar songs to help them learn numbers, letters, colors and names of their friends.
Each class is prepared with a variety of songs that will energize them and keep their interest.
We have a great deal of fun preparing for Holiday Concerts, Spring Shows, Easter Performances and End-of-Year Celebrations. In addition to singing their holiday songs, I assist them in making their own hats or props for the shows.
“I have always enjoyed working with children and love to see the joy that music brings to their world.”
Beneficial Learning Outcomes
This program can run weekly, bi-weekly or monthly as part of the curriculum or after school program. My program will not only give children an insight into other cultures, it fosters inclusivity and acceptance of their fellow classmates. It has also been my experience that these classes build self esteem. Singing and dancing together builds bonds, friendships, and a sense of community. The whole experience gives students a great deal of pride and accomplishment.
